Parenting and Paternity Awareness Curriculum Training (P.A.P.A)




The p.a.p.a program was developed by the Office of the Texas Attorney General to promote responsible parenthood, build a basic understanding of paternity and child support laws, prevent relationship violence and encourage the formation of strong, stable families.  This is a required curriculum in high school Health courses.

What is p.a.p.a?
The parenting and paternity awareness curriculum is a course that focuses on the rights, responsibilities, and realities of parenting.
Key themes include:
. Importance of father involvement;
. the value of paternity establishment;
.  the legal realities of child support;
.  the financial and emotional challenges of single parenting;
.  the benefits of both parents being involved in a child's life;
.  healthy relationship skills and relationship violence prevention.
Why is p.a.p.a. important?
The p.a.p.a. curriculum is a method by which school districts comply with state law passed in the 80th Legislature requiring high school health to include a parenting and paternity awareness curriculum
