The National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center
(NICERC) will be hosting a two-day workshop for middle school teachers on the
subject of STEM and CYBER! During the two day professional development,
teachers will be introduced to strategies and curricula for integrating Cyber
into the STEM Classroom. In addition, NICERC trainers will be showcasing the
micro:bit™ and introducing teacher to curricula that has been built around the
micro:bit™. As a special bonus, teachers who attend will be given their own
micro:bit™ and access to the curriculum.
Using the curriculum from NICERC you will have students who are engaged in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through a series of hands-on projects that encompass the engineering design process. This approach allows students to not only improve their problem-solving and critical thinking skills but also develop invaluable competencies in leadership, team building, creativity, and communication.
Participants will research, design, build, test, and redesign devices such as catapults, musical instruments, flashlights, rubber band powered cars, shake tables, and more.
