Empowering Writers: Enhancing Skills Through Self-Selected Texts and Book Club Conversations

English Language Arts/Reading Language Arts

Important Session Information:

Teachers will learn how to empower students to choose their own reading material, fostering a love for reading while also providing opportunities for meaningful writing experiences. The workshop will also cover strategies for facilitating book club conversations, where students can engage in discussions about their chosen texts, share insights, and explore different perspectives. By participating in book club conversations, students will develop critical thinking skills, improve their understanding of literary elements, and expand their vocabulary. Additionally, teachers will discover how to guide students in writing reflective responses, analytical essays, and creative pieces inspired by their reading experiences. Overall, the workshop aims to equip educators with practical approaches to support students in honing their writing skills through self-selected texts and collaborative book club conversations.
