This class addresses areas defined in the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act
(AHERA) regulations for those responsible for the school’s asbestos program. Topics
covered include asbestos detection, identification, and assessment; health effects
associated with asbestos exposure; control options; relevant federal and state
regulations; and management plan components. This class satisfies the current training
requirements put forth in AHERA for Asbestos Designated Person training. Although
there are currently no refresher requirements, it is a good idea to repeat this class every
few years to keep relevant asbestos issues and requirements fresh on you mind. Per
AHERA regulations, every school district must have an assigned Asbestos Designated
Person.
