ESC Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) Webinar Series 2025-2026
  • This interactive webinar is a part of a series of webinars provided through a collaboration of the 20 Education Service Centers (ESC) since 2012, led by Region 10 ESC. These webinars feature highly respected presenters in the field of communication and are an excellent source of continuing education for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and other school staff. Join us in learning all year long through exceptional online opportunities. Reinforce your current knowledge and add new tools to your tool box.
  • These convenient live webinars can be accessed from your personal electronic device at the times specified. These live webinars are provided through a Zoom platform and will not be available for viewing at the Region 4 location. Participants will receive an email with a link to complete Zoom registration prior to the webinar. After completing the Zoom registration, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
  • TSHA CE hours will be available for SLPs that register, access the webinar, and watch the webinar in its entirety. A code will be provided during the session in order to access TSHA and receive your CE hours. A Region 4 Certificate of Attendance will be provided via email one to two weeks after the webinar once attendance is finalized and recorded. Please note that participants must select Region 4 when they complete their Zoom registration to ensure their attendance is recorded. This session is partially funded through state and federal grants.

This session will provide the most current information regarding legal issues that specifically affect the SLP in daily job activities. The training is designed to prepare participants to deliver speech-language pathology services in their school districts based on the most current legal state and federal framework, IDEA, ESSA, and the Texas Commissioner’s Rules be included in the discussion of current legal requirements. Legal briefs & court decisions involving current legal regulations will be reviewed. This session will satisfy the ethics requirements for the Texas state license and ASHA certification maintenance.

This session will explore creative, play-based approaches to speech therapy that promote communication, participation, and progress for a variety of age ranges.  Attendees will gain practical, adaptable ideas that blend fun with function-making therapy both meaningful and motivating! Whether you are working on language, articulation, or social communication, these strategies are designed to spark engagement across a wide range of interest and abilities

Topic 2: Breaking Up is Hard to Do: Dismissal from Speech-Language Therapy

Is speech-language therapy meant to be a forever support? When is it appropriate to consider dismissal from speech-language therapy services? What if parents disagree with the speech-language pathologist’s (SLP’s) recommendation for dismissal? This session will explore these questions and more by dissecting legally defensible considerations for dismissal from speech therapy services. By utilizing robust data collected from the reevaluation, SLPs can gather crucial information regarding the impact of the disability and the need for specially designed instruction from the SLP.

A rapidly expanding body of peer-reviewed autism research, particularly from scholars with Autism and qualitative studies centering on the Autistic experiences, is reshaping how Autism services providers approach assessment, goal development, and intervention. Grounded in this research and guided by the principles of the neurodiversity paradigm (Walker & Raymaker, 2021), this session examines what ethical, evidence-informed support for students with Autism can and should look like in public school settings.
