Pre-conference Overview of 504 for Beginners





Learn about requirements under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for providing programs and services for students with disabilities. Learn about the differences and similarities between Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Review Section 504 issues including basic requirements for evaluation, determination of eligibility, developing appropriate accommodations, and maintaining documentation.  Participant will also receive a workbook with Section 504 regulations, activities, and sample forms. Session and materials costs are partially funded through state or federal grants.

If you are new or a beginner to the Section 504 world, then this is the session for you! Come learn about the basics of Section 504 and some of the nuances. Please plan on attending this session prior to attending the Section 504 Summer conference. The summer conference will be more in-depth and will go into specific legal cases.
