We have the research. Now what? 

Join us for a speaker series in which we will explore research based instructional practices in the different components of literacy instruction. Experts in the literacy field will share ideas and resources on how to implement the Science of Teaching Reading in pre-K through 12th grade classrooms.

Participants can register to attend live sessions and have the option to access the recorded presentations through a Canvas course for one month.

 



Important Session Information:



Emily Hanford is a senior correspondent and producer for APM Reports, the documentary and investigative reporting group at American Public Media. For the past several years, she has been reporting on reading instruction. Her 2018 podcast episode “Hard Words: Why aren’t kids being taught to read?” won the inaugural public service award from EWA. Her most recent project, the podcast Sold a Story: How Teaching Kids to Read Went So Wrong, won a 2023 IRE Award and was nominated for a Peabody. 

During this session, Emily will share her story from a reporter's point of view, and highlight the cases she investigated about reading practices.
