Webinars for Speech-Language Pathologists
Cleft Lip and/or Palate and Velopharyngeal Dysfunction

Learn about specialized areas of speech-language pathology in a webinar format. These convenient webinars can be accessed from your home or work computer at the times specified. They will not be available for viewing at the Region 4 location.

Important Session Information:

Cleft Lip and/or Palate is the 2nd most common birth defect. The impact of the cleft lip and/or palate can be seen at birth during feeding, during the development of communication, and the surgical process throughout the child's life. Formal training at the University level regarding Cleft Lip and/or Palate may be limited, and many SLP's find treating a child with a Cleft Lip and/or Palate to be a challenge. This course will review the diagnosis of "Cleft", the feeding complications that may ensue, the surgical timelines for reconstruction, and the diagnosis of velpoharyngeal function. Please note this webinar can be accessed using your own computer. It will not be broadcast at the Region 4 service center. This webinar partially funded by state and local grants. All webinars begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon.
