Balanced Literacy and Guided Reading in the Bilingual Classroom

Participants will examine the components of a Balanced Literacy Approach for a bilingual classroom and will have the opportunity to practice and to develop hands-on activities that will help with the implementation of the approach. In the afternoon session, participants will discuss how to organize their classrooms for small group instruction and Guided Reading and will rehearse the implementation of the model. The use of leveled readers will be covered.
