Title III Building the Beginning ESL Teacher's Toolbox: ESL Education, Cultural Awareness, and Family Involvement





As a beginning ESL teacher, you may need to build your instructional tool box in the areas of ESL Education, Cultural Awareness, and Family Involvement. Dig deeper into understanding historical, theoretical, and policy foundations for ESL programs. Explore strategies for creating awareness of and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity of students and their families, and how this awareness fosters culturally responsive learning environments. Participants will gain greater understanding of factors that influence the affective, linguistic, and cognitive needs of students acquiring another language. Domain III: Competencies 008, 009, and 010 of the TExES ESL Supplemental exam will be addressed in this session.
