This training will review the discipline process for students with disabilities, and the campus administrator’s role in the process. Topics will include the legal requirements for discipline of a student with disabilities, as well as how to conduct a manifestation determination review (MDR). Participants will be able to:
(1) Determine whether a student’s disciplinary removal constitutes a change of placement;
(2) Understand the procedures for addressing the student’s behavior if the disciplinary consequence was or was not a change of placement; and
(3) Conduct a sound and comprehensive manifestation determination review.
