National research shows that children in foster care are at high-risk of dropping out of school and are unlikely to attend or graduate from college. Collaboration among education agencies, the child welfare system and community partners is recognized as an important component of working to improve the education outcomes of students who experience foster care. The Foster Care Education Consortium is an opportunity for key stakeholders to come together to network, share best practices, collaborate, and address the ongoing issues that foster care youth are faced with in the education system.
