Adapted Physical Education (APE) Programs: Required Components and Best Practices for Service Delivery (virtual)





Join this session, designed to assist district leadership in special education, physical education, adapted physical education and practitioners with designing and implementing PK-12 Adapted Physical Education (APE) programs that address state and federal education mandates, and are inclusive of best practices. Content includes, clarification of APE service delivery from the US Office of Special Education Programs, guidance on teacher qualifications and student-teacher ratios, discussion of assessment of students with disabilities within Texas' Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative, and collaborative efforts between general and adapted physical education teachers to monitor student progress. Session and materials costs are partially funded through state and federal grants
