This session is intended for educational audiologists. Information will be provided to participants about legal requirements for serving Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, including a description of common acronyms (ARD, AU, OHI, FIE, FAPE), applicable laws (IDEA, ADA), language modalities (TC, oral), placement options (RDSPD, mainstream, TSD), the differences between serving students on IEPs vs. 504, and documentation requirements (FIE, IEP). Best practices in service provision will be discussed with participants, including how to verify DM fittings on a variety of devices, speech perception testing, and Functional Listening Evaluations. SHARS billing and PEIMS data reporting will also be addressed. Session and materials costs are partially funded through state and federal grants.
