Unsafe, Unheard, and Misunderstood: Trauma from Being Neurodivergent Living in a Typical World
Online PD

Join this session to learn more about how to better understand the trauma experiences of neurodivergent individuals whose needs are often misunderstood and overlooked. Participants will be encouraged to think beyond the traditional understanding of trauma and consider other causes that are not typically considered within traditional trauma frameworks, such as sensory trauma, social trauma, compliance trauma, neurological trauma, and medical trauma. Participants will learn more about 1) types of trauma that are unique to the neurodivergent population, 2) personal perspectives of trauma, and 3) evidence-based strategies to address trauma. Session materials and costs are partially funded by state and/or federal funds.
