Supporting the needs of students transitioning from alternative education placements back to their home schools poses significant challenges for educators. Meeting these needs effectively on the home campus can be demanding. TEC 37.023 provides guidance on best practices to aid in student success and reduce recidivism during this transition period, though implementing these practices can overwhelm schools.
This interactive face-to-face training offers a practical solution by showcasing Restorative Practices as a means to support TEC 37.023 objectives. The session begins with the screening of the acclaimed documentary "Circles". Participants will then delve into the three tiers of Restorative Justice—community building, conflict resolution, and intensive support/reentry circles—with a special emphasis on relationship building. Through breakout groups, attendees will craft personalized reentry circle agendas tailored to meet the requirements of TEC 37.023 and receive valuable feedback to enhance implementation efforts.
