This session will provide guidance for writing compliant and effective impact and need statements related to the student’s disability to create the present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFPs) which lead to development of an appropriate individualized education program (IEP). The content from this session is from the Child Find, Evaluation and ARD Supports Statewide Network webinar:Writing Effective Impact and Need Statements in the FIE . Activities to extend learning from the webinar will be included. Members of multidisciplinary evaluation teams including: educational diagnosticians, licensed specialists in school psychology and speech pathologists are encouraged to attend this interactive half-day session.
As a result of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Identify evaluation requirements under Federal Law.
2. Review how the full and individual evaluation (FIE) provides important information when developing components of a student's individualized education program (IEP).
3. Define the process for identifying the impact of the disability and the need for special education and related services.
4. Apply learning to case study examples.
This is an intermediate course, offered for 0.3 ASHA CEUs.
