Creating Assistive Technology for Low Incidence Populations





This hands-on workshop will discuss and demonstrate over 100 devices that can be created for individuals who experience vision, hearing, communication, or intellectual disabilities. Participants will learn how to re-purpose every day items into extraordinary solutions. In addition, each participant will fabricate 10 different multi use devices. These devices will include an iPad flipper for students to experience a hearing loss; tactile graphic dot maker and scan and read station for vision impairments; A multi use elevating iPad holder for vision,  hearing and communication impairments a multi use arm trough; an adapted stylus; a multi use holding and grasping solution; a multi use track board for multiple disabilities; and a Multi use eye gaze board for communication. Guaranteed to be one of the most practical and useful workshops you have ever attended.
