This three-hour, on-demand course is designed for speech-language pathologists who provide clinical supervision to clinical fellows, interns, student clinicians, or assistant speech-language pathologists in the school-based setting in Texas. The course will provide information, guidance, and best practices for successfully achieving the expectations, roles, and responsibilities of a supervising speech-language pathologist.
As a result of this course, participants will be able to
1. Identify the requirements for supervision of speech-language pathology interns and assistants as outlined by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
2. Identify the requirements for clinical fellowship mentors according to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
3. Identify ethical considerations for the supervision process.
4. Identify characteristics of effective feedback.
This is an introductory course, and participants will receive 3 hours of Continuing Education from the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA). This course meets the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requirements for ethics content. This course also meets ASHA requirements for supervision content.
