Lunch & Learn: New Educational Diagnostician Academy
Writing Effective Impact and Needs Statements in the FIIE

Calling all new Educational Diagnosticians! Are you in your first three years as an Educational Dagnostician? ESC Region 4 has a new Educational Diagnostician Academy that will be focused on helping you understand the role of the Educational Diagnostician. During lunch-and-learn sessions, participants will review timely and pertinent information required for Educational Diagnosticians and engage in meaningful dialogue. Participants will also have time to network with other new Educational Diagnosticians serving in Region 4 area districts and charters. This session is aligned with the evaluation and properly constituted ARD component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment and SPP Indicators 11 & 12.

Important Session Information:

Welcome to the New Educational Diagnostician Academy!

This academy has been specifically designed to support your growth and development during your first years of working in the field. As a new educational diagnostician, you will be responsible for assessing and identifying students' learning needs, writing evaluation reports, managing ARD meetings, and assisting in the development of appropriate educational plans.

During these short, lunch and learn sessions, you will learn the fundamentals of assessment and ARD management and gain a comprehensive understanding of the tools and techniques used in identifying disabilities. You will also have the opportunity to network with other new diagnosticians and work closely with experienced professionals who will provide you with guidance and support as you navigate your first few years in the field.

Come learn how to write an FIIE that will be meaningful in the creation of a student's IEP! In this session, we will watch the TEA recorded webinar, "Writing Effective Impact and Need Statements in the Full and Individual Evaluation," and engage in meaningful activities and discussions surrounding the webinar. This session will provide guidance for writing compliant and effective impact and need statements related to the student's disability to create the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) statements, which lead to the development of an appropriate individualized education program (IEP).
