Through activities that reveal the depth included within the grade 5 student expectations for whole number, decimal, and fraction operations, this training is designed to strengthen participants' knowledge of mathematics concepts and procedures; improve overall mathematics instruction; lead to student success on statewide assessments; and lay a foundation for post-secondary readiness.
In the Mathematics Achievement Academy for grade 5, participants will:
- Identify key understandings and skills within the grade 5 TEKS that lay a foundation for success in Algebra I, contributing to coherence through alignment with content and instructional strategies from the Mathematics Achievement Academies, Kindergarten-Grade 4
- Experience classroom-ready activities that promote reasoning and problem solving; and
- Acquire skills and resources that support instruction for students with disabilities, learners seeking to be bilingual and bi-literate, students struggling to learn mathematics, and learners identified for gifted services.
Participants will need their unique ID number to complete a validation form regarding eligibility for the stipend. Unique ID numbers can be obtained from paystubs or through your campus or district administration.
