Disability and Adapted Sports-Activity Design to Promote Full Participation





In this session, participants will learn support strategies needed to engage students with disabilities in general and adapted physical education. Instructional strategies linked through Universal Design for Learning that identifies ways students can access the curriculum such as verbal, visual, and sensory cueing and organizational and management strategies that enable students to participate in activities with necessary supports will be provided. Options for grade level outcomes through equipment, instructional and support accommodations will also be provided. The session will also review rating scales and resources, adapted and general education physical education teachers, can utilize to benefit students. This will also include working with paraprofessionals for engaging in positive support strategies. The session will also discuss the development and administration of appropriate assessments for both evaluation, and Individual Education Plans goals. of students learning outcomes, placement options. Session and material cost are partially funded through state and/or federal grants.
