Improving expressive Transliteration Skills with discourse mapping in the mix( Online)





This course takes a look at defining and practicing the different modes of sign language that fall under the Transliteration category of the Sign Language Continuum.  

Participants will discuss discourse mapping as a term for both the process of analyzing texts in interpreter education and skill development with features of an interpretation that use linguistic features to create a connected and cohesive product.

    • Participants will be able to define what it means to transliterate into sign language modes/systems.       

    • Participants will be able to list the 3 main principles of Conceptually Accurate Signed English, Signed English; MSS, SEE and Cued Speech;

    • Participants will identify the relationship of ASL features in Transliterating modes/systems.

    Session and materials costs are partially funded through state or federal grants.
