Examine ways to intentionally design learning environments to reduce barriers so all learners can engage in rigorous, meaningful learning in alignment with the Effective Schools Framework (ESF). In this session, participants will analyze the Foundational Essential Action 5.1 (EA 5.1) of the Effective Schools Framework (ESF) and be able to apply the components of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to support the incorporation of proactive instructional approaches that address flexibility in the way information is presented, how students respond and demonstrate understanding, and how students engage in instruction. This session is designed to help administrators understand the what, why, and how of UDL by exploring the foundational concepts of UDL and utilizing resources to assist administrators in building their capacity in how UDL can help transform learning in their schools in alignment with the ESF.
