MICROLEARNING: Perfecting Your Mini-Lesson

The reading or writing mini lesson is the part of the lesson in which the teacher provides direct, focused instruction in what is being taught, why the students are learning it, and then models how to do what is being taught in a short (less than 10 minute) time frame. This micro learning session will identify the components of the mini lesson and how to develop your mini lesson to provide the best instruction while also allowing time for students to participate in guided and independent practice during the reading or writing block. Microlearning sessions are short (less than 30 minutes) training sessions related to reading and writing instruction. Choose from a variety of topics to acquire a new teaching practice or skill to support your learners. Each session includes video support and handouts to make it easier to implement the new skill immediately.
