School behavior threat assessment is recognized as a best practice for preventing school violence and is included as a recommendation as part of the Safe and Supportive Schools Program Team legislative requirements, along with Governor Abbott's school safety plan for Texas. This session on school behavior threat assessment will present a step-by-step process for addressing threatening and other potentially dangerous behavior in school or that could impact a school. It will also teach participants how to respond to threatening and other concerning behavior, gather additional information in a team process, make risk-assessment summaries, and develop preventive processes, procedures, and plans if necessary to support all students and staff. The session is appropriate for school personnel, school security professionals, law enforcement professionals, mental health professionals, school administrators, and others who may be tasked with providing safe and supportive practices in schools.
This session is designed to be attended in a team format. Please attend with your Safe and Supportive Schools Program team members and/or campus/district crisis management team members.
