Best Practices of FIE Writing
Share
A Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE) should be comprehensive enough to address all suspected areas of disability and be clearly written to provide useful information that makes a difference in a child’s education. The FIE is a culmination of deliberate and thoughtful assessment planning and problem solving. While IDEA does not specifically state how an FIE is to be written, FIEs lacking in evidence of comprehensiveness may result in a denial of FAPE and/or a request for an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE). Participants will better understand what should serve as evidence of meeting the legal obligations of an FIE, including Due Process Hearing examples.
