Paraprofessionals are often utilized as the facilitator for classrooms, but may not have the appropriate training to fill this important role. This training clarifies the role of the paraprofessional, gives a basic look at the student who receives special education services, strategies for in-class assistance and collaboration with the special education and general education teachers.
Completing this course does not certify paraprofessionals.
Districts must determine their own policies and accepted criteria, based on recent guidance from the U.S. Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
