Supporting Students in Inclusive Settings: A Seminar for Paraprofessionals

Paraprofessionals play a critical role in a student’s education, whether it is to foster participation, facilitate learning concepts provided by the teacher, or support physical or behavioral needs of students. In this seminar, participants will learn to differentiate between learning accommodations and modifications, acquire tips and tricks to help students stay motivated and on-task, and discover ways to build student independence. Data collection methods-made-simple will be discussed with an emphasis on student confidentiality. Effective collaboration with teachers and effective communication techniques will be role-played. Spend the day with fellow paraprofessionals and leave with a “sharper saw” and a renewed commitment to supporting students in educational environments.
