p.a.p.a. Training: Parenting and Paternity Awareness Curriculum Training 2017-2018




Participants will receive training to ensure compliance with the state law passed in the 80th Legislature requiring high school health to include a parenting and paternity awareness curriculum. The curriculum may be taught in Middle School or High School. This training provides health teachers, FCS teachers, health science teachers, school counselors, school nurses and teen parent program staff an overview of the p.a.p.a. curriculum, explains the critical legal issues addressed in the curriculum, and prepares them to effectively use the curriculum. Participants will receive the curriculum materials at no cost. Six continuing education credits are available for social workers. To host this workshop provided by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, a minimum of 15 registered participants is required by September 1, 2017.
