ESC Programs - WEB Developing Speech through Listening for Children with Hearing Loss: Developmental and Remedial Therapies




This one-day workshop will focus on developing speech through listening for early identified and early-amplified children with hearing loss. Additionally, the workshop will focus on teaching speech to children with hearing loss with a remedial approach. The interactive workshop will provide participants with information about speech development in children who are deaf or h ard of hearing who utilize hearing aids and/or cochlear implants. Information on speech acoustics, typical speech development, and differences between developmental and remedial therapy will be discussed. Detailed information on hierarchies, strategies, and techniques that facilitate speech through listening will be addressed. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and apply information through videos and hands-on activities.
