Vocabulary Acquisition and Use for Grade 3-8

This session will be addressing the ELAR TEKS vocabulary strand. There are four components to an effective vocabulary program: (1) wide or extensive reading to expand word knowledge (2) specific word instruction (3) word-learning strategies instruction and (4) word consciousness and word-play activities to motivate and enhance learning. This session will tackle components 2-4. Teachers will walk away with lessons they can implement to support these components.
