Trainings: Session Detail

Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) Course: Highlighting Local Clients

LAMP is an AAC approach designed to give a method of independent, spontaneous expression through a speech generating device. This 1.5 day course will cover components of LAMP: readiness to learn, engage the learner through joint engagement, and learning language through pairing motor plan, auditory signal, and natural consequence. Day 1 will include discussion on how this approach addresses the core language deficits of autism, device features that are beneficial to teaching language, and how to use those features to implement LAMP components. Day 2 will include videotaping of up to 3 local clients, used to illustrate the components of LAMP and to facilitate discussion regarding assessment and implementation.
