Leveling Up Engagement in the Middle School Mathematics Classroom
Share
Are you feeling like your classroom routines have gotten a little less than exciting? Join us as we look at ways to jazz up your warm-up routines, get more hands on with your instructional time, build thoughtful problem solving routines, and have students moving to get their blood flowing and their brains focused. We will balance conceptual understanding while building procedural skills and fluency, while also engaging in productive struggle through multiple opportunities for practice, discussion, representations, and writing to explain and revise thinking. We will explore each topic through the lens of proportionality to deepen understanding of key concepts and connect concepts within and across the grades using a variety of tools and structures that can be used in 6th-8th grade.
