Now I Get It! Comprehension Tools for Secondary RLA




Junior High and High School students are notorious for scratching the surface of a text, but not often going deeper, even though that is where the real comprehension resides. Swim with us in the deep end as we work through what students can do before, during, and after reading to increase both the accuracy and the quality of their reading comprehension skills. Throughout the day, we will model and practice how to best utilize background knowledge to access grade level text, when and how to ask questions to facilitate discussion, and how to get students to write about what they've read.  Participants will leave with a solid plan that will enhance student comprehension, writing structures, and those imbedded communication skills students need for a successful life.
